Job description

Under the responsibility of the plant supervisor, production operatorcan operate three types of machines.

Hydraulic press brake operator must work with manually or digitally controlled hydraulic machinery. This person ensures that the steel is bent according to the specifications on the order slips.

More specifically, manual hydraulic press brake operator shall :

  • Receive the parts to be folded;
  • Take measurements, make marks, and determine the radius to be used to produce the requested part;
  • Fold the pieces;
  • Tie the bars together in bundles with wire;
  • Ensure that production schedules and deadlines for parts are met;
  • Comply with quality standards;
  • Perform all other related tasks.

More specifically,automatic hydraulic press brake operator shall:

  • Receive the parts to be bent;
  • Create or select the program in the bending machine’s computer;
  • Set up the bending machine with the dies required for the program;
  • Bend the parts;
  • Attach the bars in bundles with pins;
  • Ensure that deadlines and production schedules for parts are met;
  • Comply with quality standards;
  • Perform all other related tasks.

Hydraulic shear operators must work with numerically controlled hydraulic machinery. They ensure that steel is cut according to the specifications on the order slips.

More specifically, hydraulic shear operators must :

  • Sort and select the cutting order of purchase orders to maximize productivity;
  • Coordinate the untangler and the outdoor bridge operator to place the requested steel on its cutting table;
  • Cut the pieces according to the sizes listed on the slips;
  • Attach the TAGS to the package using a pin;
  • Place the steel bars in the appropriate stacks to facilitate collection;
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines and production schedules for parts;
  • Minimize material loss from cut parts;
  • Comply with quality standards;
  • Perform all other related duties.

Skills sought

  • Experience in an industrial environment as a production operator;
  • Be in good physical condition.

Training required

  • No specific training is required

Qualities sought

  • Have a positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team;
  • Be eager to learn;
  • Comfortable reading measuring tape;
  • Skilled at mental arithmetic (shear operator);
  • Demonstrate autonomy and resourcefulness;
