Job description

Under the supervision of the Director of Technical Services, the Drafting Technologist (Project Manager) plays a key role in coordinating our clients’ projects, from understanding their needs through to the final installation of equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of operations related to the fabrication, delivery, and installation of reinforcing steel.

More specifically, the Drafting Technologist (Project Manager) will be responsible for:

  • Preparing the documents required for the fabrication, delivery, and installation of reinforcing steel, in accordance with plans and specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable standards;
  • Coordinate fabrication, deliveries, and on-site installation in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders;
  • Manage issues related to change requests, on-site contingencies, and schedule adjustments;
  • Prepare detailed purchase orders for the fabrication of steel at the factory;
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and other project stakeholders;
  • Respond to technical inquiries related to construction sites;

Skills sought

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar position (construction);
  • Experience with reinforcing steel and concrete structures;
  • Excellent ability to read blueprints (structural and architectural);
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Knowledge of Rebarcad software (a plus);
  • Working knowledge of English (spoken and written), due to a partially English-speaking client base.

Training required

  • DEP in Technical Drafting or DEC in Civil Engineering or Architecture
