Job description

Under the supervision of the Director of Technical Services, the detailer/draftsman or -woman works closely with project managers to carry out their projects.

More specifically, the detailer/draftsman or -woman will be responsible for:

  • Produce rebar layout drawings in accordance with plans and specifications;
  • Receive, analyze, and approve bid and construction drawings, verifying any modifications made from the start of projects;
  • Work closely with the project manager to produce technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, while ensuring the accuracy of the information and compliance with standards and principles related to rebar;
  • Prepare purchase orders for steel fabrication at the plant, taking into account the required diameters, lengths, and bends;
  • Provide the technical expertise necessary for the fabrication and installation of rebar;
  • Master work processes, demonstrate adaptability, and ensure effective project management while meeting established deadlines;
  • Perform any other related tasks associated with the position.

Skills sought

  • Have 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role;
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD and demonstrate a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical drawings;
  • Have experience in the rebar industry (considered an asset).

Training required

  • DEP in architectural drafting or any other program deemed equivalent.
